The challenge for this project was to design a four-page spread on a famous graphic designer. I picked Alvin Lustig who was an American book, graphic and typeface designer. I think he is so talented and creates amazing work. I designed this project based on a yellow theme which is the dominant colour. The objective of this project was to create a booklet showing the different collections at the Montreal Museums of Fine Arts. For this project, I decided to use a white background so that the art stands out more. I also used a light blue-grey line to divide the page so it doesn’t look too cluttered.

Tea Guide

Camellia Sinensis is a popular tea brand worldwide. This booklet was designed in French and English and it was created to inform the users about the five steps to brewing the tea. A brief description on how it is grown, the main teas and a little history about it are included. I used a green that was not too bright because it is a very calm colour and tea is a relaxing drink.

Book Cover

Catcher in the Rye

Catcher in the Rye is a 1951 novel by J. D. Salinger. I chose to recreate this book cover because I found that it was such an amazing book and the book cover was very outdated. The book demonstrates a teenager's dramatic struggle against death and growing up. I used two illustrated images of a boy. The first one shows how he is not happy and is doing bad things such as smoking and the second one shows how he is not smoking and he is happy. I used these illustrations to show that you can choose what kind of person you want to be and you could always change yourself for the better.

Wine label and booklet

Wild south New Zealand

The goal for this project was to create a wine label and a matching booklet.

The booklet gives us information about the wine, the history of the maker’s wine, the climate and soil it takes to grow the grapes and more. For the booklet, I used images with greens and light browns and of course the white-yellow color of the white wine.

For the label, I decide to create a brush stroke to give it a special effect. I used the color blue because it is considered beneficial to the mind and body and produces a calming effect. I made the bottom of the label darker so I could have put the writing in white and it makes the name of the wine stand out.

Personal Project

Jolly Roger

I created Jolly Roger because I saw online, people were mixing jolly ranchers and vodka to create a sweet and tasty drink. I thought it would be cool to create a packaging and a name for that drink. When I thought of jolly ranchers I immediately thought about the Jolly Roger skull. I used the skull and illustrated it to make it look like it is throwing up a rainbow since jolly ranchers has different colours to represent different flavours.

Six word story

For this poster, I took a six-word quote and illustrated the meaning of it. My quote was “He spoke without speaking, I listen.” The story behind these six words is to show that we don’t need words to know how someone is feeling, we can tell just by their actions. I chose to use the color grey because it is a very sad story and grey represents lack of emotions and is often associated with loss.
